Since becoming
hooked on stereoscopic photography, I have made a great effort to enthuse
others. Part of this effort is directed toward providing presentations
for various events. In doing this I hope to raise awareness to
stereoscopy and hopefully bring some keen photographers onboard. At
least, it is possible to provide an entertaining evening, with the right
material of course.
Presentations can
take on many forms, ideally a projection session should be included but this
is not essential. Most of us will have collected items of interest,
such as viewers, stereo cards, cameras and books; enough for a talk on the
subject.
If you are into
computing, your own prints in various viewing formats is a good idea.
At a recent event in my home town, I had a display of local scenes in the
form A3 anaglyphs, along with half a dozen pairs of red/cyan glasses of
course. I also displayed a View-Master viewer and Holmes viewer along
with 3D books.
Now that digital
photography is with us and digital projectors coming down in price, it is
almost essential that those of us who invest in such equipment make the most
of it. Activity groups in your area will welcome an 'Amazing 3D Show'
now and again. I have had many such requests and have provide four in
the last six months or so.
Once you have done
your first presentation, the requests will come by word of mouth. A
good starting point for your first show is your local heritage society who
will enjoy the social history aspect of stereoscopy.
